VerseOne Innovation Fund makes VR a reality for young people in Cornwall

VerseOne Group is delighted to announce that Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Sowenna VR Appeal is the first recipient of an award from the recently launched VerseOne Innovation Fund.

Virtual Reality (VR) projects which have a direct impact on patient care, education and training of staff are a growing area of innovation within the healthcare sector.

The Sowenna VR Project is developing an initial set of VR sensory environments to be used within a controlled area to reduce anxiety and stress. These environments would be adjustable and moderated and are being developed in co-operation with Young People Cornwall (YPC) who will provide the User Experience (UX) group.

The VR environments are expected to be launched on the unit in October 2019, and the project is being supported by a research study to determine whether the project has reached its desired aim.

The Sowenna VR project consists of a partnership between CFT and Falmouth University, with funding supplied by the Invictus Trust and the VerseOne Group Innovation Fund.

The VerseOne Innovation Fund was launched in 2018, and was set up to offer real-world expertise, funding, and continued mentorship to those with ground-breaking and brilliant ideas for delivering real innovation and effective change within Social Housing, Healthcare, Local Authority and wider commercial markets. The Innovation Fund is actively seeking to award new funds so, if you have an idea that qualifies, please tell us all about it.
